Dr. Shobhika Shree Selected as Contestant for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’

New Delhi – Honey Mahajan : Dr. Shobhika Shree, a distinguished medical doctor currently serving with the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), has been selected as a contestant for the popular quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC). This exciting news has brought immense pride and joy to the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where Dr. Shree originates.

Dr. Shree’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She was part of the first batch of students at ANIMS (Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences), making history as the first person from the islands to clear the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination. Her early career saw her serving in the remote location of Rangat, in North and Middle Andaman, where she worked tirelessly as a medical officer, bringing essential healthcare services to the region’s underserved population.

Born to a family dedicated to public service, Dr. Shree’s father, Mr. Binu Kumar, is a respected member of the police department, and her mother, Mrs. Sajitha, is a devoted school teacher. Their support has been instrumental in shaping Dr. Shree’s remarkable career.

Currently, Dr. Shree plays a crucial role at NOTTO, contributing significantly to the coordination and regulation of organ and tissue transplantation across India. Her work has had a profound impact on improving transplant outcomes and saving lives nationwide.

Dr. Shree’s selection for KBC has been a journey of dedication and perseverance. Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “When I received the call from the KBC team, I was overjoyed and a bit stunned. It felt like a dream. Clearing the written MCQ test was challenging but exciting. The video audition round was a unique experience, and I was thrilled when I was informed that I had cleared both rounds. Now, I am preparing to head to Mumbai for the Fastest Finger First round and, hopefully, the hot seat if I make it through. It’s a huge opportunity and a significant step forward, and I am filled with both excitement and gratitude.”

Her selection for KBC is a moment of immense pride not just for her family but for the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This achievement is especially significant for the people of Andaman, as it showcases the potential and talent emerging from the region, which has often remained underrepresented on national platforms. Known for their breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, the islands are now celebrating one of their own who has achieved national recognition.

Her parents, overwhelmed with pride and emotion, also shared their thoughts. Mr. Binu Kumar, her father, said, “Watching Shobhika grow up on our small island, I always knew she had something special in her. She has always been determined and focused, and seeing her now on the verge of sitting across from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on KBC feels like a blessing. It’s beyond anything we could have imagined for her. Our hearts are filled with pride, not just for her accomplishments, but for the kind, hardworking person she has become.”

Mrs. Sajitha, her mother, with tears of joy, added, “Shobhika has always been our pride and joy. From a young age, she was driven by a sense of purpose, always wanting to help others. Seeing her achieve so much, especially coming from our humble background, fills my heart with gratitude. I still can’t believe my daughter is going to meet Amitabh Bachchan. It’s like watching her dreams unfold right before our eyes. She is living proof that with determination and hard work, even a girl from the remote corners of Andaman can reach great heights.”

Her husband, Dr. Nitin, shared in the joy of her achievement, stating, “Shobhika has always been a source of inspiration, not just to me but to everyone around her. Her dedication to her work and her community has always amazed me. Seeing her take on this incredible challenge is something I am incredibly proud of. I know she’ll make us all proud, not just as a contestant on KBC but as a representative of our beloved Andaman and Nicobar Islands.”

As Dr. Shobhika Shree prepares to step into the KBC hot seat, her community, colleagues, and all of Andaman and Nicobar are rooting for her success. Her journey from a small island to a national platform is a source of inspiration for many, particularly young women aspiring to break barriers and achieve their dreams.

Viewers across the country are eagerly anticipating the episode featuring Dr. Shree, where they will witness her brilliance and grace under pressure, representing the spirit of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
