SUCCESS MEDIA, NEW DELHI : On the occasion of Suicide Prevention Day, the Counseling Committee of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, organized a workshop titled “Understanding and Healing from Psychological Trauma” on September 11, 2025. The workshop provided students with valuable insights into the nature of trauma, its impact on mental health, and strategies for coping with everyday stressors.

The event was graced by the presence of the Principal, Dr. Sada Nand Prasad, whose guidance added to the significance of the occasion. The program was convened by Dr. Sunita Chaki, who played a pivotal role in its successful organization. The session began with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Anita Srivastava.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Itisha Nagar, a renowned psychologist and educator, engaged participants in an interactive session on contemporary perspectives of trauma, stress, and suicide. She emphasized that suicide must be seen as a systemic societal failure rather than an individual tragedy. Through reflective activities, participants explored personal experiences of stress, happiness, and trauma, learning the importance of emotional regulation and healthy coping mechanisms.

The workshop highlighted evidence-based strategies such as physical activity, dance, and self-care practices for managing stress. A collective dance activity brought an atmosphere of joy, relaxation, and emotional release among students.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Seema Sodhi, who appreciated the collaborative efforts of the organizers, speakers, and students. The event successfully underscored the institution’s commitment to promoting mental health awareness and fostering holistic student well-being.
